Description: Learn to make sturdy custom clamshell boxes to enclose books, suites of prints, or other objects. We will cover construction from start to finish, including measuring, cutting boards, adhesives, and covering with cloth and paper. Participants will make a practice box and a custom box for their own small object. The skills in this workshop will be helpful for continuing bookbinders as well as future boxmaking.
All materials are included for cloth-covered boxes; however participants may bring their own decorative paper or purchase it from ICPC.

Instructor Bio: Kalmia Strong is a bookmaker, printer, and arts organizer. An alumna of the University of Iowa Center for the Book, she is program director at PS1 and resident bookbinder at the Paper Nest. She regularly teaches book & print workshops for children and adults and instigates collaborative projects.
