Description: Create bindings and an enclosure from the east Asian bookbinding tradition. Participants will learn and execute various side-stitch (or stab binding) techniques, then make a wraparound case to hold their books. Suitable for beginners but will also allow continuing binders to develop their skills.

Instructor Bio: Kalmia Strong is a bookmaker, printer, and arts organizer. An alumna of the University of Iowa Center for the Book, she is program director at PS1, creative coordinator at the UI Libraries, and resident bookbinder for the Paper Nest. She regularly teaches book & print workshops for children and adults and instigates collaborative projects.
